Romania's Minister of National Defense Radu Miruca rejected on Friday as "completely unfounded" the information that 800 wounded US soldiers were brought to the 57th Mihail Cogalnicanu Air Base by transport planes, reports "Agerpress".

"Recently, a series of completely unfounded information has spread on the Internet, claiming that in the last 48 hours, transport planes with "800 wounded US soldiers" have landed at the 57th Mihail Cogalnicanu Air Base and that they will be distributed to hospitals in Romania and Europe. I categorically deny this information! In reality, the activity at the "Mihail Cogalnicanu" base is carried out according to current plans, without any medical or logistical emergency of the described nature," Miruca wrote on Facebook.

According to the minister, such disinformation aims to cause panic and undermine public trust in state institutions and strategic partnerships.

"This is a known pattern that appears whenever there is an interest in creating confusion and distrust. I suggest you check the information from official sources before spreading it. Any spread of fake news amplifies its effects. Romania is a serious and predictable partner and the security of its citizens is not up for discussion. "The truth must be spoken clearly and defended firmly," Miruca said.

We recall that earlier in March, Iran warned Romania that it would react politically and legally if the country allowed the US to use bases on its territory for operations against Iran. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagaei said that Tehran calls on countries not to intervene in the war.

Miruca said that on March 15, the first three US military aircraft arrived at Base 90 in the city of Otopeni, after the Romanian parliament approved the US request to temporarily deploy military forces and equipment in the country due to the war in Iran on March 11.

Since the start of the US operation against Iran, 13 American servicemen have been killed and about 200 others have been injured. This was reported a week ago by the "Wall Street Journal" (WSJ). The media outlet quoted an American official.
