Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on the international community to determine which side - Iran or the United States - is truly for negotiations to resolve the conflict in the Persian Gulf.
“As I addressed the American people, an assassination attempt was made on the head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Policy, resulting in the killing of his wife,“ the president noted.““Let international public opinion decide which side is for dialogue and negotiations and which side supports terrorism,” the president said.””
Iranian media and officials have attributed the attack to a joint US-Israeli operation.
The assassination is part of the large-scale military campaign "Operation Epic Fury", which began in late February 2026 and has killed a number of senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian described the attack as an "attempt to sabotage diplomacy". Harazi was reportedly involved in arranging direct talks with US Vice President J.D. Vance through Pakistani mediation.
In response to the strike, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had attacked the infrastructure of the US company Oracle in the United Arab Emirates, although authorities in Dubai denied this information.
