Swedish authorities have released the ship Flora 1, detained on suspicion of environmental crime, reports Reuters, citing the Swedish Coast Guard.
Earlier, Sweden's Minister of Civil Protection announced that the Flora 1 was detained on suspicion of environmental crime in connection with an oil spill east of Gotland in the Swedish exclusive economic zone.
„The Coast Guard said it had released the oil tanker“, the report said.
According to the agency, the Swedish prosecutor's office questioned the crew, noting that two of its members had been notified of suspicion of environmental crimes but had not been detained. An investigation has been launched.
The prosecutor's office explained that because the spill occurred in the exclusive economic zone, the scope of measures that the Swedish authorities could take was limited.
