The US has “much more oil“ than Russia and Saudi Arabia combined, US President Donald Trump told reporters.

“So if you look at Russia and Saudi Arabia, two great powers, we have much more oil than they have combined“, the US leader said.

He credited the US's large oil reserves to his policy of “Drill, baby, dril“

The phrase “Drill, baby, drill!“ was one of Donald Trump's unofficial campaign slogans.

Upon taking office on January 20, 2025, Trump declared a national energy emergency in the United States, signed several executive orders aimed at supporting oil and gas production, and stated the need to double energy production.

This allowed the United States to become the world's largest oil producer.

Last week, Trump announced that empty tankers were being sent to the United States to be loaded with oil and gas. He also emphasized that the United States possesses volumes of oil greater than the combined output of the “next two largest oil economies“. He did not specify which countries he was referring to.

By the end of 2025 - early 2026, the United States remains the world's leading oil producer (13.4 million barrels per day). Next in the ranking are Russia (10.4 million barrels per day) and Saudi Arabia (9-10 million barrels per day).
