Iran has demanded compensation from five Arab countries for “joining Israel and the United States in the war“ against it, said Amir Saeed Iravani, the Islamic Republic's permanent representative to the UN.

“Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia must fully compensate Iran for the physical and moral damages caused by their illegal actions“, the diplomat was quoted as saying by the Tasnim news agency.

Iravani explained that Tehran believes that the aforementioned countries “joined Israel and the United States in their war against Iran“ and thus “have violated their obligations to the Islamic Republic“. The Permanent Representative did not specify which specific actions of the Arab states Iran considers “joining Israel and the United States in the war“ in the conflict.

Since the start of the military conflict on February 28, Iran has suffered significant human casualties and extensive material damage. According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, the number of victims in the country is 3,375. Other organizations such as HRANA report 3,636 deaths, of which 1,701 were civilians, including at least 254 children. Officials reported over 26,500 injuries.

Between 3.2 million and 3.8 million people have been forced to flee their homes as a result of the fighting and the accompanying flooding.

The strikes have hit critical infrastructure and residential areas in multiple provinces, including Tehran, Isfahan, and Bushehr.

More than 115,000 civilian sites have been damaged or completely destroyed. Electricity, water and telecommunications facilities have been severely affected.

At least 25 hospitals have been damaged (9 of which are out of service), and dozens of schools have been hit, including the tragic incident at a girls' school in Minab.

Damage has been inflicted on nuclear and ballistic facilities, as well as Iranian warships.

Total economic damage to Iran is estimated by the government at between $300 billion and $1 trillion.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the attacks on energy facilities have led to the largest disruption to global oil supplies since the 1970s.

A two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States has been in effect since April 8, 2026, to allow for humanitarian aid and negotiations, although the situation remains volatile.
