The shooter who killed five people in Kiev set his home on fire before going out with a gun

Ukrainian investigators have established that the Kiev resident who opened fire on passers-by and took hostages in a supermarket set fire to his apartment before going out with a gun.

In addition, he has a criminal record. This was announced by Volodymyr Zelensky in a video posted on his Telegram channel.

He also said that investigators are considering several versions, without specifying which ones.

The unknown attacker opened fire on passers-by in the Holosiivskyi district of southwestern Kiev, then stormed a supermarket and took hostages. Specialized police forces conducted an operation to free them, as a result of which the shooter was eliminated.

As a result of the incident, five people died and 15 others were injured. Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko reported that the shooter had an officially registered weapon.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine classified the shooting in the Holosiivskyi district of Kiev as a terrorist attack. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced this on his Telegram channel.

„A criminal investigation has been initiated into the shooting of civilians and hostage-taking in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital under Art. 258, Art. 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a terrorist act that resulted in death”, he wrote.
