Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov revealed his vision of the art of modern diplomacy, illustrating its essence with a famous joke about Armenian radio.

„Do you know, if we move a little into the sphere of humor, remember that in the Soviet Union there was a series of jokes about Armenian radio. They ask Armenian radio: „What is diplomacy?“. It answered that there are several options, but the most respected is: diplomacy is the art of sending someone to the right place, but doing it in a way that makes him look forward to leaving there. This can also be included in the arsenal of diplomatic methods. There is nothing unusual in this“, Lavrov said in an interview with Russian Public Television.

At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that one of the key tasks of diplomacy is the effective protection of the national interests of the state, which must be carried out with due respect for the interests of worthy and honest partners.
