The plane carrying Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog was forced to change its route to Kazakhstan after avoiding Turkish airspace, Israeli media reported, News.bg reports.
According to Channel 12, the flight passed through Europe and Russia, which extended the trip to about eight hours. Herzog's state visit to Kazakhstan is planned for two days.
The case is not the first of its kind. In November 2024, Turkish authorities also denied access to their airspace to the Israeli president on his way to the COP29 conference in Baku. The visit was then canceled, citing security concerns.
There has been no official reaction from Ankara regarding the new incident, but the situation once again highlights the tension in relations between Turkey and Israel.
