Emmanuel Macron will present his vision for Europe today to boost French influence in the EU and to improve the state of his party, reported Reuters and BTA.

Macron, 46, has three years left in his second and final presidential term. He wants to show his critics that he has retained the energy and ability to generate fresh ideas that helped him take the presidency in 2017, notes Reuters.

Macron lost his parliamentary majority in 2022 and his approval rating plummeted, and his centrist party “Revival” It lags behind the far-right National Assembly in the polls ahead of the European Parliament elections, which will be held from June 6 to 9.

Macron's allies have revealed almost nothing about the content of the speech to be delivered at the Sorbonne. But they said the president wanted to outline a road map for Europe as a more assertive force amid a more challenging global context, including the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

Macron's advisers described the speech as France's contribution to the EU's strategic agenda for the next five years. This agenda should be decided after the European elections, when EU leaders will negotiate over the bloc's top posts.
