The Houthis attacked the ship "Darwin"

The vessel is owned by the Mediterranean Shipping Company

Yemen's Houthi rebels said that on Thursday they attacked the ship "Darwin" of the Mediterranean Shipping Company after they resumed their attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"We also fired several ballistic and cruise missiles at targets in the Israeli port city of Eilat,”, rebel spokesman Yahya Saria said in a televised address.

Shipping data of the company "Refinitiv" indicate that the Liberian-flagged ship "Darwin" was in the area of the attack and was moving between the ports of Aden and Djibouti.

The Swiss-based Mediterranean shipping company has not yet commented on the attack.

Earlier Thursday, a ship captain reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing spray and smoke over the water about 15 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port of Aden. The British Merchant Shipping Organization (UKMTO) reported on this incident that the crew and vessel were safe and that military assistance had been provided.
