The UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in support of the Palestinian application for full membership in the organization - a symbolic move due to the US veto in the Security Council, dariknews.bg reported.
The resolution received 143 votes "for", 9 "against" and 25 "abstained". It states that the Palestinians should be admitted to the UN and given some additional rights as observers from September 2024, AFP reported.
The General Assembly cannot ensure Palestine's full membership in the organization. Security Council approval required.
