In Britain, Conservative MP Mark Logan became third Tory to defect to Labor within a month, BNR reported. He said he supported the Labor Party because it “can bring optimism back into British public life”.
The British Parliament was dissolved on Thursday for the general election on July 4.
In an interview with the BBC, Logan, who was the Tory MP for Bolton North East, said Labor had “run its course and are now proposing a centrist policy”. He added that the Tory party was now "unrecognizable" from the party he joined a decade ago.
Asked if he would run for Labor in the future, he said: “I would not rule out returning to public life in the future, but I am definitely stepping down from this parliament.“
A Conservative Party spokesman downplayed Logan's move, saying the party had actually wanted to remove him for a long time because of his inaction. Incidentally, in recent months Mark Logan has been a fierce critic of the government's policy on Gaza and is now calling for the UK to recognize Palestine as a state.
