Dead and injured in accident with car from the Mexican president's motorcade VIDEO

Claudia Sheinbaum's car was not injured

A car from the motorcade of the newly elected Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum had an accident today, her team said in a statement, quoted by Reuters and BTA.

One person died and several were injured in the crash, but Scheinbaum's car was not damaged.

Sheinbaum stopped to help the injured, who were taken by ambulance to a hospital. The accident happened at an intersection on the way out of the city of Monclova, Coahuila state. Scheinbaum traveled to Monterrey for a meeting with her mentor and current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

According to the mayor of Monclova, Mario Alberto Dávila, the car from Sheinbaum's motorcade "was traveling at excessive speed".

"We deeply regret the death of one person in the other car," Sheinbaum's team said in a statement.
