Air defense systems destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones targeting Russia's Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, the governor said today, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or damage from the attack, said the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, in a message in “Telegram”.
Meanwhile, it has become clear that Serbia is increasing sales of ammunition to the West, which subsequently end up in Ukraine through third countries. The amount of ammunition that Kyiv received from Belgrade is worth approximately 800 million euros, reported Ukrinform, quoted by BTA.
The agency refers to an article in the “Financial Times”.
According to the publication, the volume of munitions exports from Serbia, which have entered Ukraine through third countries since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, is approximately 800 million euros. This number was confirmed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, notes Ukrinform.
Vucic presents the arms export situation as a business opportunity, insisting that he will not take sides in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The Serbian leader said it was part of the Serbian economic revival and emphasized its importance. Vucic noted that Belgrade cannot export to Ukraine or Russia, but has many contracts with Americans, Spaniards, Czechs, etc.
The president of Serbia indicated that it was none of his business where the sold ammunition ended up.
Vucic said his job is to ensure that Serbia handles its ammunition legally and sells it accordingly. He emphasized his responsibility to take care of his people and noted that Serbia "has friends in Kiev and Moscow".
When asked if the figure for exports worth 800 million euros was true, he specified that it was a number that did not cover one year, but "maybe two or three years".
According to the president, Serbian weapons are cheaper than Western weapons, so the scale of ammunition exports from Serbia may increase.
Serbia had a thriving military industry during the Cold War when it was part of Yugoslavia. The country produces Soviet-standard ammunition that is still used by the Ukrainian armed forces.
As reported by Ukrinform, on March 5 last year, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that his country had not transferred any Serbian weapons or ammunition to Ukraine or Russia.
