Trump spoke with Kimberly Cheatle at the hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he is staying for the Republican National Convention, where he will be officially nominated as its presidential candidate. It is not clear what exactly the two discussed.
Trump was shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The attacker was subsequently killed.
The case has raised many questions about how effectively the Secret Service is protecting Trump.
The director of the service agreed to be heard by a committee in the House of Representatives on July 22.
Meanwhile, thousands of people paid their last respects yesterday in Pennsylvania to Cory Comperatore, the 50-year-old former fire chief who was killed at a Trump rally, the Associated Press reported.
The shooter wounded two other people plus the former US president.
