A Russian missile hit a playground in the Ukrainian city of Nikolaev in the southern part of the country and killed a child and two adults, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA. referring to local officials.
According to Ukrinform, citing the mayor of the city Oleksandr Senkevich, 14 people were injured. According to the agency, the blow was inflicted on a children's playground located next to a multi-storey residential block.
"A playground near an ordinary house. Every day, Russia proves with its terror that the pressure against it is not enough," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in the "Telegram" application.
He posted photos from the scene showing two bodies lying on the ground. One of them is the badly mutilated body of a child covered in blood, dust and debris. A part of a rocket can be seen next to it.
The port city of Nikolaev and the surrounding region are regularly targeted by Russian attacks, according to Reuters.
Regional governor Vitaly Kim praised the city's residents, who immediately rushed to the scene of the attack to help before emergency teams could even arrive. In his post on "Telegram" he wrote that another missile had landed elsewhere in the region.
Moscow denies targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure during its invasion of Ukraine, Reuters notes. Thousands of people have been killed and injured in her attacks.
