A funeral ceremony is being held in the capital of Iran for the deceased head of the Politburo of the Palestinian movement Hamas Ismail Haniya. The live broadcast from the University of Tehran, where the ceremony is organized, is carried out by the IRIB TV channel, TASS clarifies, quoted by Focus.
The Speaker of the Majlis (Parliament) of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, was the first to deliver a speech before the ceremony. In it, he reminded those present about Operation True Promise. (the large-scale missile and drone attack against Israeli territory on April 13). He assured that even now "Iran's duty is to react at the right time in the right place”.
The main part of the farewell ceremony began with the reading of a prayer by the supreme spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, over Haniya's body. During the event slogans were heard: "Death to Israel", "Death to America" and "The US is behind the crimes of the Zionists“.
Large-scale processions are expected in Tehran on the occasion of Haniya's death. Movement restrictions were introduced in this regard.
