5.0 magnitude earthquake shakes southern Italy

5.0 magnitude earthquake the Richter scale was registered in southern Italy on Thursday evening, according to a report on the official website of the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), as quoted by Focus.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 124 kilometers south of Taranto and 14 kilometers east of Longobucco, at a depth of 16 kilometers.

According to the monitoring groups, the earthquake was felt in a wide area. However, there were no reports of serious damage, and there were no reports of citizens in distress.

Furthermore, there are no relevant statements of damage or casualties from the Italian Civil Protection Agency.

Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported that the epicenter of the tremors was near the town of Cosenza in the Calabria region and occurred at 21:43 local time.
