Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump congratulated Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the prisoner exchange deal with Western countries.
„I would like to congratulate Vladimir Putin on reaching another great deal,” he told supporters in Atlanta, Georgia.
At the same time, according to Trump, this deal was terrible for Washington. “We got our people back, but we are making terrible, terrible deals,” says the politician.
On August 1, as a result of an exchange at Ankara airport, eight citizens of the Russian Federation, detained and imprisoned in a number of NATO countries, as well as minor children, were returned to their homeland. Russian President Vladimir Putin personally met with the Russians freed as a result of the exchange, who arrived at the Vnukovo-2 airport on board the special aviation unit “Russia”.
Among those returning to Russia is a Russian citizen who was serving a life sentence in Germany, known as Vadim Krasikov.
