Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris narrowed her choice for vice president to two people, reported "Reuters". These are two governors - of Pennsylvania - Josh Shapiro, and of Minnesota - Tim Walz, revealed on Monday three sources close to Harris, quoted by News.bg.

The current US vice president is expected to announce his choice by Tuesday, ahead of his first scheduled public appearance with him at Temple University in Philadelphia.

The vice presidential pick is one of the most important decisions Harris is about to make after hastily organizing his campaign.

He will have to be an equal challenger to Sen. JD Vance, who will also make a campaign appearance in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Shapiro is 51 years old. Considered a rising star of the Democratic Party, he enjoys high approval ratings in Pennsylvania, whose 19 electoral votes make him a must-win for both Harris and Trump.

Shapiro is a former attorney general. Also, if he is elected vice president, he will be the first to hold that office who is of Jewish descent. But that also carries risks — on the one hand, his strong support for Israel could alienate some progressive voters, and on the other, it could appeal to moderate voters and undermine Republican efforts to make the Gaza war a Democratic issue.

Waltz is a 60-year-old Army veteran and former teacher. In recent weeks, he has come out as a fierce defender of Harris, calling her rivals Trump and JD Vance "weird," something the Democratic nominee's campaign organizers were delighted to hear.
