Russian airlines will not fly at night over Israel for the next one week

The decision rests with the Civil Aviation Administration in Moscow

The Civil Aviation Administration in Moscow has banned Russian air carriers from flying in Israeli skies through the following nights, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

The restriction covers the time zone between 22:00 and 04:00 GMT and will come into effect for the first time tonight, according to a statement issued last night by "Rosaviation".

The so-called notice to airmen or air missions, NOTAM (notice to airmen or air missions, NOTAM) will be in effect until 09:00 GMT on August 16, the civil aviation authority added.

No reason was given, although it is apparently related to fears of an Iranian air attack on Israel, DPA notes.

Russia is a close ally of Tehran, and has recently stepped up its supply of air defense weapons to the Islamic Republic.

Flight in Israeli skies during the day remains permitted.

Nevertheless, Russian pilots must adhere to the rules for flights in and over crisis areas, said "Rosaviatsia".

Many international airlines have canceled flights to Israel because of the threat of war.
