The Russian units of the "Center" group, operating in the Pokrov direction, continue their assault on the town of Selidovo in the Donetsk region, they write in the Russian Telegram segment, as quoted by Focus.
After the Russian military managed to strengthen positions on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday, they have continued to advance. From the analysis of the incoming information from the two warring parties, it can be concluded that by the morning of August 29, the Russian units had broken the Ukrainian resistance in the settlement.
As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after unsuccessful attempts to slow down the advance at the entrance to the city, have retreated mostly to the area of high-rise buildings, trying to organize a new line of resistance there.
As a result of the offensive, the Russian units have already approached the administrative quarter of the city. Local sources report that fighting for this area has already begun.
The situation for the Ukrainian armed forces is complicated by the fact that Russian troops have taken control of most of Mihailovka, which borders Selidovo to the east. This opens up opportunities to advance from both sides of the Solenaya River and move the fighting into the urban areas on its left bank.
