An Indian plane made an emergency landing in Turkey after a bomb threat

The aircraft was diverted to Erzurum airport for security reasons

A plane of the Indian company "Vistara" (Vistara) with 247 people on board made an emergency landing in eastern Turkey today due to a bomb threat, the company and local authorities announced, as quoted by AFP and BTA.

„Flight UK27, from Mumbai to Frankfurt (BOM-FRA), was diverted to Turkey (Erzurum Airport) due to security reasons”, the Indian airline said on the social network "X".

Valiya (district governor) of Erzurum province Mustafa Ciftci, quoted by Turkish media, indicated that there were 247 passengers and crew members on board the plane and announced a temporary suspension of takeoffs and landings at Erzurum airport.

Passengers were taken off the plane and searched one by one before being taken inside the airport, and a team of bomb disposal experts was sent to inspect the interior of the plane and the luggage in the hold, the Walia said.

During the flight, "one of the passengers wrote on a napkin that there was a bomb in the plane", after which the crew was alerted and decided to make an emergency landing, Ciftci added.
