Former Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg does not want to return to high politics in his native country after ten years of work as the Secretary General of NATO, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

At a press conference in Oslo, Stoltenberg, 65, said he would find a way to support his centre-left Labor Party as a regular member.

But he added: “I am not going to be a person who goes home and starts having too many opinions about things he has not really dealt with for 10 years - namely active Norwegian politics”.

He did not comment on what else he could possibly be doing in his homeland.

Stoltenberg was prime minister from 2000 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2013. In 2011, he led his country through a difficult period following the bombings in Oslo's government district and on the island of Utoja, in which right-wing extremist Anders Breivik killed a total of 77 people.

Since 2014, Stoltenberg has been the Secretary General of NATO. He will hand over this post to former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on October 1.
