The US and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to the recovery of Ukraine

The President of US Joe Biden, together with international partners, confirmed his commitment to help rebuild Ukraine, DPA and Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"We are committed to providing Ukraine with the resources it needs to recover and come back stronger than before," said the head of the White House on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

It is no secret that Russian attacks have caused significant damage, the US leader said, but he said Ukraine is economically resilient. Russia launched its full-scale invasion of the neighboring country in February 2022.

At last night's event, which was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Biden presented a statement to more than 30 countries and the EU in support of recovery.

The goal is to hold Russia accountable for the destruction and long-term recovery of Ukraine. "Today we are issuing a joint statement in support of Ukrainian recovery to make it clear that we will be with Ukraine now and in the future," said the American president.

In June, the seven most industrialized Western countries (G-7) decided to use interest from frozen Russian assets to finance a $50 billion credit line for Ukraine.

"Russia's sovereign assets will be blocked until it ends its aggression and pays for the destruction it has caused,'' Biden said in New York.

Zelensky in turn mentioned the "Marshall" about the rebuilding of Europe after World War II and added: "Today we are laying the foundations for a similar architecture of rebuilding.

According to a copy of the declaration of more than 30 countries and the EU, among which are also those of the G-7, its text states that according to international law, it is Russia's responsibility to pay for the damage it caused to Ukraine.

"We confirm that in accordance with all applicable laws and our legal systems, Russian sovereign assets under our jurisdiction will remain frozen until Russia ceases its aggression and pays for the damage it has caused to Ukraine," in the document.

Meanwhile, the US State Department announced new military aid to Kiev in the amount of $375 million.

It will include HYMARS missiles, armored vehicles with enhanced anti-mine protection and Javelin anti-tank missiles. and TOU.
