The second execution of a prisoner by nitrogen gas in American history took place in Alabama, reports the Associated Press, quoted by BTA.

59-year-old American citizen Alan Eugene Miller was executed. He was found to have killed three men in 1999.

"I didn't do anything to end up here”, the journalists reported the last words of the criminal before his death.

On January 26, the first pure nitrogen execution in United States history took place in Alabama.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, said that the execution of a prisoner by nitrogen gas in the US state of Alabama could amount to torture.
