The General Court of the European Union has upheld its ban on providing legal advice in Russian legal entities and individuals, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.

The measure was first introduced in 2022 by the European Union as part of wide-ranging sanctions against Russia in response to its forces' incursion into Ukraine.

The decision came after the Netherlands Bar Association in Brussels, the Paris Bar Association and others called for the measure to be overturned.

"Therefore, the prohibition applies only to legal advice unrelated to legal proceedings. The General Court adds that legal advice given in particular to natural persons does not fall within the scope of the ban," the court explained.
