Two freight trains collided in Russia's Transbaikalia, derailing 42 wagons

Traffic on the line has been completely suspended in both directions

Two freight trains collided at 6,623 km of the Trans-Baikal Railway, the press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office reported. Due to the derailment of 42 wagons, traffic is blocked in both directions.

„At around 7:30 a.m. on the Bushulei - Zhireken section of the Trans-Baikal Railway, two freight trains collided. Seven wagons from one train were transporting coal. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being clarified, it is specified that no one was injured.

A rescue train has arrived at the scene. There is no threat to the environmental situation.

A criminal case has been opened for a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of railway transport). Investigators are carrying out a number of actions aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
