The agreement between the US and Ukraine will not be signed on April 26 unless the parties reach an agreement on a number of controversial issues in the remaining week, Deputy Minister of Economy - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka announced on the air of the Rada TV channel.
„Whether this can happen on April 26 or not depends on how constructively and effectively the negotiations will proceed. We are ready to demonstrate maximum efficiency, but the volume of all the documents included in this agreement amounts to dozens of pages. We will strive for this, but no one promises that we will finish on the 26th. There is a rule in negotiations: nothing is agreed until everything is agreed."
Kachka noted that political decisions are needed to resolve some issues, which can be taken during Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal's visit to the United States next week. Among the difficult topics, he pointed out the wording of questions regarding US contributions to the investment fund, as well as mechanisms for compensating for the assistance provided by Washington to Kiev.
The goal of completing work on the mineral resources agreement by April 26 is stated in the memorandum between Ukraine and the United States on this issue.
