There will be no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan - our country has chosen the path of freedom, democracy and peace. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in an address on the occasion of May 9, Interfax reported, quoted by BTA.

„Today we have the opportunity to contribute to a peaceful and prosperous future of our region. The draft agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been agreed and awaits signing. We will follow this path. Our region has earned the right to live in peace and prosperity - and that is exactly how it should be," Pashinyan said.

He stressed that despite internal and external provocations, there will be no war - there will be peace.

“We are following the path of freedom, democracy and peace. This is not an easy path at all, but it is worth taking. To complete it and reach irreversible stability, confidence, faith, prudence and consistency are needed. We need courage, honesty and deep self-knowledge - the ability to read and understand the messages of our own history,“ the Prime Minister also pointed out.

Pashinyan called for focusing on the real, modern Armenia, and not on the mythologized historical image. According to him, the true ideology of the country should be the construction of freedom, happiness and prosperity, which should be passed on to future generations.

In his address, Pashinyan also marked the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet Union and the Western Allies in World War II. He emphasized that Armenia also contributed to the victory - both in the ranks of the Soviet Army and in the forces of the Western Allies and resistance movements.

“This war broke out because of the Nazi ideology, according to which one nation is above another. The world united to prove the opposite. Today we pay tribute to our compatriots and recall that fascism and all its forms threaten freedom, peace and happiness,“ Pashinyan said.
