New Israeli strikes in Gaza: At least 20 killed

The attacks coincide with the end of President Trump's Middle East tour and hopes for a ceasefire

At least 20 people were killed this morning in Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip, the Associated Press reports. The information is based on data from a reporter for the agency who counted the bodies in the so-called Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza. According to eyewitnesses, there are still people buried under the rubble, BTA reports.

The massive attacks in northern Gaza come as US President Donald Trump wraps up his tour of the Persian Gulf countries - a visit that does not include Israel. His visit raised hopes for a possible ceasefire agreement or the resumption of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave, which has been blocked by Israel for three months.

There has been no official comment from the Israeli military on today's strikes.
