A personal meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States is absolutely necessary, but it must be carefully prepared, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a press conference in response to a question from a TASS journalist, BTA reports.
“Such a meeting is absolutely necessary“, Peskov stressed. “The summit must be productive and thoroughly prepared.“
According to him, such talks at the highest level are traditionally preceded by lengthy expert negotiations and consultations. This is especially true when it comes to a meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States.
US President Donald Trump, during his visit to the United Arab Emirates, said he intends to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin "as soon as it becomes possible to organize such a meeting". According to the White House, such talks can be expected "very soon", TASS notes.
