CNN: Israel is preparing a strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure

The announcement comes amid talks between Washington and Tehran

The Israeli military is preparing to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure, despite talks between Washington and Tehran, CNN reported, citing sources in US ruling circles.

“The likelihood of an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities has increased significantly in recent months, and the prospect of an agreement between the US and Iran that would not lead to Tehran giving up its full use of uranium increases the likelihood of such a strike“, one of the officials told the television channel.

The sources do not know whether Israeli authorities have made a final decision to attack, and US intelligence does not clearly confirm the Jewish state's intentions. Indirect signs of preparation for a strike include the movement of equipment and weapons of the Israeli Air Force and their maneuvers. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that Israel is resorting to a show of force to force Iran to make serious concessions on issues related to its nuclear program.

The United States and Iran, with the mediation of Oman, have held four rounds of talks to resolve differences over Tehran's nuclear program. The first of these was held on April 12 in the Omani capital Muscat, the second on April 19 in Rome, the third and fourth on April 26 and May 11 again in the Omani capital. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the American delegation by the President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff. The fifth round of talks between Iran and the United States may be held in Rome from May 24 to 25.
