Italian and Albanian authorities have arrested 52 people in a coordinated international operation against cocaine and heroin trafficking between the Balkans, Northern Europe and the southern Italian region of Puglia, DPA reported, BTA reports.
According to police information, assets worth millions of euros were seized in the operation carried out early this morning. The detainees have been charged with international drug trafficking, money laundering and abuse of office.
The operation is led by the Italian anti-mafia and anti-terrorism police, in cooperation with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust). Interpol also participated in the cross-border operation.
