US Senator Ron Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin, announced his intention to launch an investigation into the health of former US President Joe Biden during his term as head of state, the Axios portal reported.

Johnson, who is a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and its subcommittee on investigations, said he plans to send letters with the relevant requests to “a few dozen people“.

“We need to do it. "I mean, let's find out who ran the government," he was quoted as saying by Axios.

On May 18, Biden's office announcedthat the 82-year-old former president had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones. US President Donald Trump has expressed doubt that his predecessor's diagnosis was only recently revealed, hinting at a possible cover-up.

At the same time, a representative for the former US president denied that information about Biden's illness had been withheld. "President Biden has never been diagnosed with prostate cancer before last Friday," his spokesman told Axios.
