The Gaza Strip Civil Defense said today that 16 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in various areas of the Palestinian territory, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reports.

“The death toll from Israeli strikes in various parts of the Gaza Strip since midnight has reached 16 people“, civil defense spokesman Mohammed al-Mufayer told AFP. According to him, dozens of others were injured in the attacks, which hit residential buildings in the central and southern parts of the region.

At the same time, the Israeli army said, quoted by Reuters, that 107 trucks carrying humanitarian aid, including flour, food, medicine and medical equipment, entered the Gaza Strip yesterday. The aid has been provided by the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations.

Israel resumed its airstrikes on March 18 after indirect talks with the Palestinian group “Hamas“ to extend a two-month ceasefire failed.

The war in Gaza broke out after a “Hamas“ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which, according to AFP data based on official information, 1,218 people died on the Israeli side, most of them civilians. Of the 251 people kidnapped during the attack, 57 are still considered hostages in Gaza, and 34 have been declared dead by the Israeli army.

According to the latest figures from the Hamas Health Ministry, which the UN considers reliable, the victims of the Israeli retaliatory strikes in the Gaza Strip are at least 53,762 people, most of them civilians.
