The United States has imposed sanctions on individuals and fake charities supporting "Hamas" and "Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine" (PFLP), which were identified as key financial supporters of the two Palestinian groups, Reuters reported, BTA reports.

According to the US Treasury Department, the sanctioned individuals and entities have financed the military wing of "Hamas" by posing as humanitarian structures operating in and outside the Gaza Strip.

The department emphasized that it will continue its efforts to restrict the financial resources of "Hamas", which is still holding hostages captured in the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Among the sanctioned entities are:

the Gaza-based charity "Al Weam",

the Turkish foundation "Filistin Vakfi",

the Algerian Association for Charitable and Humanitarian Activities "Baraka",

the Dutch foundation "Isra",

the Italian association "Cupola d'Oro".

According to US authorities, five people associated with these organizations are also subject to sanctions and investigation.

"Today's actions underscore how important it is to protect the charitable sector from abuse by terrorist groups such as "Hamas" and the NFLP, which systematically use fictitious charities to fund their terrorist and military operations," said Deputy Treasury Secretary Michael Falkender.

The ministry added that such abuses of nonprofit organizations by "Hamas" and the NFLP are a long-established practice.
