Russian President Vladimir Putin and his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan agree that the conflict between Israel and Iran must end immediately, Reuters reported, citing a Kremlin statement after a telephone conversation between the two leaders, BTA reported.
Putin reiterated Russia's readiness to mediate to find a diplomatic solution to Israel's and the West's concerns about Iran's nuclear program, the Kremlin added.
"An exchange of views was held in the context of the sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle East. Both sides expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation in the Israeli-Iranian conflict, leading to the most negative consequences for the entire region," the statement, quoted by TASS, said.
"The need for the earliest possible cessation of hostilities and the intensification of political and diplomatic efforts in the interests of resolving the controversial issues related to the Iranian nuclear program was emphasized," the Kremlin added.
During the conversation, Putin and Al Nahyan expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between their two countries in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, the Russian president's press service also said.
