US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that the United States has not completely stopped arms supplies to Ukraine. According to her, the decision taken the day before by the Pentagon represents “just one specific case“, reports “Evropeyskaya Pravda“, reports News.bg.
On Wednesday, US officials announced that they were temporarily suspending certain supplies to Kiev due to concerns that the Pentagon's stocks have decreased excessively. Among the weapons affected are dozens of Patriot air defense missiles.
When asked if this restriction could hinder potential peace talks with Russia, Bruce replied:
“That's a very good question, but it's good that it won't be a factor.“
“We have not stopped arms supplies to Ukraine. This is one aspect, one specific event. As you've heard from the Department of Defense, there are many other credible mechanisms and efforts aimed at continuing to assist Ukraine,“ she added.
Her statement is intended to calm concerns that support for Ukraine is waning amid depleted supplies and domestic challenges in the United States.
