In the so-called "northern capital" of the Russian Federation - St. Petersburg, roads and parking lots are under water due to flooding, writes auto.mail.ru.

After the hottest day of the year in St. Petersburg yesterday, July 3, high waters of the Gulf of Finland caused a flood to rise in the water level in the Neva, Fontanka.ru reports.

Cars in parking lots in the coastal areas of St. Petersburg were submerged due to rising water levels on the Neva River.

By morning, the wind in the city had weakened and it began to rain. Eyewitnesses reported flooding of roads and car parks in coastal areas of St. Petersburg.

The "Oaks" park in Sestroretsk was flooded, and cars parked near the "Dune" beach were gradually sinking.

The dam was closed due to rising water levels - from the outside. Strong winds persist mainly in the western regions of the Leningrad region. Pulkovo Airport is operating normally.

According to experts, the water level in the Neva could rise to almost two meters.

The dam in St. Petersburg was closed because the water level on the outside is now higher than 180 cm.
