Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has strongly condemned the latest Israeli airstrikes in Yemen, saying that Israel continues its aggression against countries in West Asia thanks to the impunity it enjoys from the US and some Western countries. This was reported by the Iranian state news agency IRNA, BTA reports.
Bagaei made his statement after Israeli airstrikes carried out yesterday in several areas of Yemen, including the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Issa and Salif, as well as the "Ras Khatib" power plant. According to him, this is another act of aggression against the Arab state.
The Iranian spokesman described the attacks on Yemen's economic and public infrastructure as – ports, power plants and food warehouses as a "grave crime against the Yemeni people". This was stated in a press release published on his official Telegram profile.
Bagai called on the UN Security Council to end its inaction and take action against Israel's crimes in Yemen. He stressed that the impunity with which Israel acts is the result of strong political and military support from the US and its allies, and this is the main factor driving Tel Aviv's aggression against the countries in the region.
In conclusion, Bagai stated that all governments - both in the region and beyond - have a moral and legal duty to oppose the "genocide in occupied Palestine" and to hold Israeli leaders accountable for the "heinous crimes" committed by the Israeli government.
