The US Supreme Court allowed US President Donald Trump to implement his plans to close the Department of Education by laying off nearly 1,400 of its employees, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
With only three dissenting votes from liberal judges, the Supreme Court lifted a federal judge in Boston's injunction to carry out the cuts.
The judges' decision allows the US government to resume its work to close the Department of Education and distribute its functions among other departments - something that was among Trump's most important campaign promises, the AP notes.
