The Brazilian leadership is preparing an extraordinary BRICS summit, which may be held via video conference amid threats from the US.
The work on preparing the meeting is being led by the country's chief adviser to the president, Celso Amorim, the Brazilian newspaper Valor Econômico reported, citing its sources.
It is noted that Brazilian President Lula da Silva intends to discuss and develop a joint response of BRICS members to threats to cooperation within the association from the US.
Amorim also intends to visit China next week, where he will participate in ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II. He will hold several meetings with the foreign ministers of a number of BRICS countries, who will also arrive in Beijing.
