The Israeli military has attacked another high-rise building in Gaza City as part of a new phase of offensive operations in the area, the army press service reported.
According to the Israeli side, the high-rise building was used by Palestinian radicals from the Hamas movement for military purposes. “Hamas terrorists installed intelligence-gathering equipment in the building and set up observation posts to monitor the location of Israeli army troops in the area,” the military said in a statement.
The army assured that the strike was targeted and that additional measures were taken before it was carried out to minimize harm to the civilian population in Gaza.
On September 5, the Israeli army announced that it was beginning to systematically strike high-rise buildings in Gaza City that the military said were being used by Hamas militias for military purposes. At the same time, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that “the gates of hell in Gaza are opening”. He added that his country's army will increase pressure on the radicals until they accept Israel's conditions, primarily by releasing hostages and laying down their arms. Otherwise, the radicals will be destroyed, Katz warned. This comes as Israeli troops prepare for a large-scale offensive, the stated goal of which is to defeat Hamas units in Gaza City and establish control over it.
