In March, Volvo Cars marked a significant development milestone as it recorded its highest ever sales, thanks in large part to strong demand for the EX30.
With a total of 78,970 vehicles sold in March, the Swedish carmaker saw a remarkable increase of 25% compared to the same period last year. This achievement represents the highest monthly sales volume in Volvo's nearly century-long history, surpassing the previous record of 78,761 vehicles sold in December 2020.
The standout driving this surge is the EX30, Volvo's entry-level model. Notably, the EX30 contributed 55% of the company's total sales growth last month, accounting for 15,838 units of the total increase.
During the first quarter of the year, Volvo achieved a remarkable increase in sales, with an increase of 19,749 vehicles, a growth of 12%. The EX30, despite overcoming initial software challenges, played a key role, accounting for 14,544 units of total sales growth for the quarter, or 74%.
Volvo's success has been further boosted by limited competition in the small electric SUV segment. Competitors such as the Smart #1, Opel Mokka Electric, Jeep Avenger and MG 4 are priced slightly higher than the EX30.
