The CEO of Stellantis said some of the car concern's plants are spewing out production that needs repairs before it even leaves the factory . Carlos Tavares also noted that he already has several ideas to reduce substandard cars.
The recent change in production methodology, according to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, is proceeding at a rapid pace, but there are still complaints related to costs and the need to repair newly produced vehicles even before reach the showrooms.
Tavares, quoted by Automotive News, says: “ The percentage of direct operation of some of our plants, starting at all, is not good. And that's something we need to fix with our team.“
For those who don't know, the “direct release“ is the proportion of vehicles that are produced in a factory and then make it to the end of the assembly line without needing rework, repairs or quality control adjustments.
Yes, you read that correctly. It seems that quite a few Stellantis products make it to the end of the conveyor belt with less than glamorous quality.
