Ukraine strikes Russian command post in Kursk region - 1

Ukrainian forces have launched new offensives in Russia's Kursk region, "Reuters" reported, News.bg reports.

According to a statement from the General Staff of Ukraine, a Russian command post was struck in the area of the village of Belaya, near Kursk. The initial message on Telegram stated that the operations were coordinated with ground forces and included "new offensive actions". Later, the wording was changed to "combat operations", "Reuters" specifies.

At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had struck heavy strikes against Ukrainian units in the Kursk region. According to the ministry, six Ukrainian positions were hit, and troops and equipment were destroyed in seven other places, including on Ukrainian territory near the border.

Ukraine, which temporarily seized part of the Kursk region in early August and held it for five months, has not disclosed details of the current operation. Kiev has been on the offensive in the region since Sunday, but its specific objectives remain unclear.

The US-based Institute for the Study of War said that geolocation footage released in recent days confirmed Ukrainian advances in three areas northeast of the city of Sudzha.

At the same time, Russian forces are carrying out counterattacks in other parts of the region. Russian military bloggers have reported fierce fighting in the Malaya Loknya area, northwest of Sudzha.
