During the upcoming winter 2024/2025, there will be no fee for the access of tour operators' buses to Terminal 2 of the airport. This was agreed at a meeting by the Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev and Zhivko Petrov – Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications and Jesus Cabayero – CEO of Sofia Airport.
The initiative and the subsequent decision became a fact, after a signal to Minister Miloshev by the tourism industry about the increase of fees for access and staying at the terminal parking lot. This decision will be valid until the end of the winter period, during which time a traffic analysis will be carried out.
It was also discussed after the end of the winter season that the time of free stay of the buses and coaches of tour operators should be increased from 15 to 30 minutes to 3 times a day. To further facilitate tour operators, the airport concessionaire will build a system to automatically recognize the height of vehicles, which will improve the organization.
It is also necessary to build a new interactive tourist information center at “Sofia“ Airport. Cabayero supported the proposal, noting: “Our main goal is the development of Sofia and Bulgaria as a tourist destination, as well as increasing air connectivity by opening new routes.“
Minister Miloshev also added that after his recent visit to Japan, he is ambitious about opening a charter airline line from Sofia to Tokyo or Beijing. Cabayero expressed his full support and offered his team's expert assistance and data analysis to realize this initiative.
