US doubles rocket engine production - 1

US military industrial concern Northrop Grumman plans to double production of rocket engines so the Pentagon can replenished the weapons stocks, which were reduced as a result of arms deliveries to Ukraine, reported the American portal Defense One.

According to him, the concern is preparing to increase the annual production of solid fuel rocket engines that drive Lockheed Martin's salvo launch systems to 14,000 units. It is noted that in the last four years, Northrop Grumman produced about 5-6 thousand engines per year.

According to the head of one of the company's divisions, Gordon Lopresti, demand dictates the need to produce 10,000, and in the future 14,000 engines per year. He points out that Northrop Grumman has established “excellent partnerships with the US government” that will enable it to achieve its goals and meet the growing demands of the Pentagon.

As noted by Defense One, the concern produces solid-propellant rocket engines at plants in the states of West Virginia, Maryland and Utah. Over the past six years, the company has invested $1 billion to expand production capacity at these three sites.
