US Deputy Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya during a visit to Kyiv announced the granting of 5 million USD as a grant to fight corruption in Ukraine. This is stated in a written statement issued by the press service of the State Department.

As follows from the document, Zeya visited Kyiv on October 18. During the trip, she announced "three new initiatives". Zeya said the US State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics Trafficking and Law Enforcement, in partnership with the UK-based Institute for War and Peace Reporting, “has awarded a US$5 million grant to improve transparency and government accountability by supporting civil society organizations and advocacy groups". investigations of journalists with a great contribution to the fight against corruption." “It will also be aimed at strengthening cooperation between civil society and independent institutions of Ukraine in the fight against corruption”, assured the State Department.

Zeya announced that the State Department is also providing $2 million to the International Organization for Migration in support of Ukrainians, as well as $2 million to the United Nations Program for the Improvement of the Status of Women in Ukraine.

Zeya met in Kyiv with the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration – Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishyna, Minister of Veterans Affairs Natalia Kalmykova, the leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
